Virtual Cannabis Ceremony

About This Event:

We are excited to welcome you to our first online Cannabis Ceremony! Although Cannabis can be used recreationally, it is oftentimes overlooked as a spiritual tool. Cannabis can be used to support preparation and integration of work with other medicines, but can also be used for journeys in and of itself.

During this intimate virtual ceremony we are going to focus on how cannabis can be used with intention as we sit together in meditation and sound. This event will be facilitated by Ian Siess (Outdoor Educator, Psychedelic Cannabis Guide) who has offered several of these meditations in person over the past year or so.

After we arrive, Ian will lead a landing meditation, followed by introductions, and a discussion about intentions. Ian will share some information about the ceremonial, or spiritual use of Cannabis and frontload the experience. This event will emphasize lower doses of Cannabis as we explore its depths with intention.

6:50 - Frontloading the experience

Selecting Cannabis for the Optimal Experience

There are so many different products on the market, shopping for Cannabis can be intimidating! Here are a few tips that will help you select the best strain and mode of delivery for our ceremony:

  • Consider your intention before you go to the dispensary. Budtenders are knowledgeable and will be able to help you select something that will work well for you (ask them for help!)

  • Trust your nose: ask to smell various strains and pick something that smells good to you. Your body knows what it needs!

  • Consider mode of delivery: Smoking or vaping have the benefit of being able to get to the sweet spot more precisely. While many people prefer edibles, they take much longer to have an effect and can last longer so it’s encouraged that you know what dose you want to take and that you take your edible at the very start of the ceremony–or even beforehand–depending on your experience with edibles.

  • I encourage you to select organically grown Cannabis. Good budtenders will know about how the Cannabis is grown. Choose growers that take good care of their plants.

Setting Sacred Space

  • Headphones are encouraged for privacy and the best experience with the music

  • You will want to have a comfortable space in which to consume your cannabis as well as rest during the meditation.

  • Blankets, pillows, etc. are encouraged to help you settle in

  • Consider setting up a small altar with a few meaningful or ceremonial items.

  • It’s a good idea to have some water nearby and some snacks prepared for after the ceremony.

Harm Reduction

  • It is not recommended to drive following the use of Cannabis

  • Cannabis is not recommended for individuals with heart disease or people with family history of psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder

If you have any other questions about this event please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to having you there!
