  • Nemesis Coffee 555 Great Northern Way Vancouver, BC, V5T 1E1 Canada (map)

About This Event:

The Flying Sage is excited to bring you yet another insightful and thought-provoking Expansion Seminar. This month’s seminar will be focused on the intersection of neuroscience, psychedelics, and mental health, and we are excited to welcome a diverse panel of experts in this field to share their knowledge and insights.

Our panelists include Manesh Girn, a neuroscientist researching the effects of psychedelics on the brain ; Mark Haden, a public policy consultant and author with a focus on drug policy reform; Deovn Christie, a clinical psychologist specializing in psychedelic-assisted therapy ; and Zohra Shahalimi, a quantum shamanic healer.

  1. How does neuroscience explain the effects of psychedelic substances on the brain, and how can this knowledge be used to develop new treatments for mental health disorders?

  2. What role do psychedelic experiences play in shaping our sense of self, and how might this be harnessed to promote mental wellness?

  3. What are some of the challenges and opportunities in conducting research on psychedelics and mental health, and how can we address these?

  4. How does somatic therapy intersect with neuroscience and what we know about trauma?

  5. What does interpersonal neurobiology have to do with psychedelic healing?

These are just a few of the types of questions we will be discussing during this event.

This event will be hosted at the beautiful Nemesis Coffee and ticket purchases include free coffee and delicious pastries. We will also be doing a special prize giveaway for those in attendance. She is a MAPS-certified MDMA therapist, having served as an investigator and research therapist in a MAPS phase-3 crossover study for PTSD. Her ongoing research in MDMA-assisted therapy involves its potential for chronic pain. Devon delivers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at Numinus, where she also serves as Senior Lead of Psychedelic Programs, developing and implementing both treatment and therapist training programs.

Dr. Devon's background includes extensive training in mindfulness, both personally through more than 20 years of practice, and professionally through Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher certification. Her interest in trauma resolution led her to training and certification in Relational Somatic Therapy, and recently she completed training in Level 1 Internal Family Systems. Her current private psychotherapy practice blends these two frameworks. Devon is passionate about broadening the modern healthcare paradigm to encompass trauma-informed approaches that incorporate scientific advances in our bio-psycho-social understanding of illness and wellness - a holistic view that most traditional systems have long emphasized. She sees careful integration of psychedelic-assisted therapies as part of this movement.

Devon is also passionate about educating future psychedelic therapists on ethics and trauma-informed, mindfulness and embodiment-based skills. She teaches for Numinus, Vital, the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI), and the ATMA Foundation Psychedelic Therapy programs.
