Expansion Seminar - Sex & Psychedelics

  • Nemesis Coffee 555 Great Northern Way Vancouver, BC, V5T 1E1 Canada (map)

an illuminating discussion around Sex & Psychedelics

About This Event:

The Flying Sage is excited to bring you yet another insightful and thought-provoking Expansion Seminar sponsored by Dose Osmosis. This month we are exploring the powerful interplay between Sex and Psychedelics.

Sex can be such an important element of the human experience and pleasure is just one aspect of this. Understanding how sensuality and pleasure are intertwined with the psychedelic experience is important to discuss; especially from an ethical perspective as these expanded states of consciousness often put us in vulnerable states. But ultimately, this is an important topic because we are all impacted by sexuality in one way or another.

We have brought together a group of four knowledgeable panelists who will be sharing their insights and perspectives with us including Angela Leong, Daniel Kline, Jess Rodwell and Daka Ziji.

  1. Why sex and psychedelics?

  2. How can psychedelics be integrated into a therapeutic framework to explore and address aspects of sexual well-being and relationships?

  3. In what ways do psychedelics contribute to fostering mindfulness in the realm of sexual experiences, enhancing the mind-body connection?

  4. How can psychedelic experiences shift the way we look at sex?

These are just a few of the types of questions we will be discussing during this event.

This event will be hosted at the beautiful Nemesis Coffee and ticket purchases include free coffee and delicious pastries. We will also be doing a special prize giveaway for those in attendance. In addition to a Q/A period at the end, these events also serve as good opportunities to connect with and meet some of the extraordinary humans that make up The Flying Sage community.

Come prepared to have your perceptions ignited and expanded as we explore this juicy, exciting and important topic. We look forward to seeing you there.

About Our Panelists:

Angela Leong

Angela Ivy Leong is a Registered Clinical Counsellor holding a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She is the founder of An Elegant Mind Counselling, a boutique practice niched in Sex and Relationship Therapy and Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy. Shortly after completing her graduate level training, indigenous plant healing ceremonies came onto her path.

She has been on a journey of understanding the aspects of mysticism contained within psychology. As a psychotherapist, Angela uses many modalities of therapy but predominantly Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, a somatic, emotion focused and attachment-based model.

She is Sex Therapy trained which means she is well-versed in the diversities of sexual, relation and gender expression. Her approach is highly psych-educational and analytical, combined with the softness of breaking psychological experiences down into pockets of emotional experiences to be processed. She is currently offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy at Field Trip Health.

Daka Ziji

Ziji is a Tibetan word that translates as “full of splendour,” “brilliance,” or “confidence.” Sensual massage is way to restore ourselves to this state. Ziji has spent more than eight years studying massage with friend and mentor Sequoia, who has been doing this work for almost 40 years.

Ziji has long believed in the power of the body to heal, transform and awaken us to our spiritual dimension. This comes from many years of journeying in different spiritual traditions, including First Nations spirituality, Tantric Buddhism, and yoga.

For Ziji, this culminated in spending two years in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Canada, developing a meditation practice, and learning tantric practices. This work has made him deeply attuned to the inner workings of his own energy, which allows him to intuitively sense what somebody needs to create transformation and healing.

Ziji is also a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher, which helps with my understanding of anatomy and alignment.

Jessica Rodwell

As a self proclaimed muggle-turned-wizard, Jess (aka. Jecca) has spent the last three years deeply evolving into the person she is today, Queer, Non-Monogamous, and Kinky. After leaving a corporate career, marriage, and lifestyle that were no longer serving her, Jess has embraced her true journey. When she realized how much better she felt, she wanted to help others by creating a space they could heal and grow within their own intimate lives.

Jess became a Somatica® Trained Sex and Relationship Coach at the Somatica Institute and also received an Introductory Certificate in Embodiment Counselling from the Institute of Somatic Sexology. So much of Jess' transformation came as a result of her studies and the tools and insights she gained through her training and self-care practices. Now, she wants to pass these tools on to you so you can live a life full of passion, embodiment, intentional connection, self awareness, and mind-blowing sex. You can find out more about Jess at www.jecca.ca or on instagram @jecca.
