Rhythmic Breath Journey - Community Leader Offering

  • Qi Integrated Health 1764 West 7th Avenue Vancouver, BC V6J 5A3 Canada (map)

About This Event:

This week, Flying Sage Community Leader and facilitator Gabo and Kaan will lead you on a breathwork ceremony that aims to create an intimate bond between you and your breath. By weaving rhythmic movement, mindfulness and breathwork they will create a sacred space for you to connect to the inner healing power that your body has within it.

About This Week’s Facilitator:

Gabriel Largaespada

Gabo is a movement coach at Restore Human in Vancouver, was born and raised in Nicaragua and has always had an affinity for the realm of the physical, the psychological and the spiritual.

Gabo’s connection to the spiritual realm was initiated through psychedelic medicines, meditation and breathwork practices. He’s guided group meditations, led a variety of healing and movement events and now aims to continue furthering his passion for supporting people in their healing journey through a modality that he finds incredibly powerful, rhythmic connected breath.

Gabriel is a Community Leader with The Flying Sage and has facilitated many FS Events as one of the organization's core team members.

Kaan Akkaya

Kaan was born in Turkey and lived in the UAE for 10 years before moving to Vancouver. His spiritual journey began in his late teens when he started practicing yoga, meditation and participating in plant medicine ceremonies.

Kaan explores altered states of consciousness in a mindful manner and advocates for respect and reverence for the medicines. He has always loved movement; having trained in gymnastics since the age of 5, to playing competitive sports and practicing calisthenics, he puts a large emphasis on movement as it relates to breath and trauma stored in the body.

Kaan has his 200 hour YTT and completed the Trauma Informed Somatic Breathwork Course by Tim Morrison. In his approach, he has been inspired by John Sutherland's Adaptive Bodywork and his teachings on active pain relief and human structural integration. Kaan's main aim is to explore the connection between mindful movement, the breath and trauma in conscious settings.

BREATHWORK AGREEMENTS:

A breathwork ceremony can be a very vulnerable experience, thus it is important to make sure that a safe container is created. By signing up to this event, you are expected to abide by the following agreements:

  1. Punctuality: Commit to being punctual and arrive on time for the scheduled breathwork session. Respect the time and effort of the facilitators and fellow participants by honoring the agreed-upon start time.

  2. Self-Care: Prioritize your own well-being throughout the session. Listen to your body and honor your physical, emotional, and energetic needs. Take breaks, hydrate, and nourish yourself as necessary.

  3. Personal Boundaries: Respect your own boundaries and communicate them clearly. You have the right to say "STOP" to any form of physical or energetic contact that feels uncomfortable to you. Similarly, if you do not want any form of contact during the experience (even if you initially agreed) we encourage you to cross your arms to form an X, this will communicate that you want to be left alone.

  4. Consent and Choice: You have the power to make choices that feel right for you. Give explicit consent before engaging in any activities or practices, and feel empowered to modify or opt-out of exercises that don't resonate with you.

  5. Emotional Safety: Create a space of non-judgment, compassion, and support for yourself and others. Allow yourself to explore and express your emotions without fear of criticism or evaluation.

  6. Confidentiality and Privacy: Honor the confidentiality of others' experiences and maintain the privacy of the shared space. What is shared during the session should remain confidential unless given explicit consent.

  7. Active Listening and Respectful Communication: Practice active listening when others are sharing their experiences. Speak from your own perspective using "I" statements and communicate with respect, kindness, and empathy.

  8. Self-Responsibility: Take responsibility for your own experience and well-being. Communicate your needs, concerns, and any discomfort you may experience during the session. Advocate for yourself and seek support when needed.

  9. Non-Interference: Avoid interfering with or interrupting the experiences of others unless explicitly invited or necessary for safety reasons.

  10. Supportive Environment: Foster a sense of safety, trust, and support for all participants. Offer encouragement, compassion, and understanding to fellow participants as they navigate their own journeys.

  11. Integration and Aftercare: Recognize that the session may bring up insights and experiences that require further integration. Engage in post-session self-reflection, self-care practices, and seek additional support if needed. We will be sending you a follow up email with integration recommendations.

If you are not able to abide by this agreements, we kindly ask you not to sign up for this event or directly contact us to explain your situation.
