World Psychedelics Day - Ceremonial Breathwork & After Party

  • Conscious Lab 422 Richards Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 2Z4 Canada (map)

About This Event:

Experience the power of breath and community as we come together to honour World Psychedelics Day (WPD) at Conscious Lab on June 21st.

WPD envisions a time when synthetic and naturally occurring psychedelic medicines are better understood, made safely and legally available, and appreciated for all their beneficial, wondrous, and sacred uses.

This year will be WPD’s first in-person event since the pandemic. Let’s gather as many people in Vancouver as we can who also share in this vision.

For this event, you are invited to dive deep with us into new realms of consciousness with a guided breathwork session facilitated by Shama Zeynep, tapping into ancient wisdom and modern practices for healing and transformation.

Following this profound journey, the celebration continues with an immersive After Party featuring a range of live DJs to keep us dancing into the night.

This event coincides with National Indigenous Person’s day and proceeds will be going to support the Canadian Psychedelic Summit’s scholarship fund. The summit is one of the leading gatherings in Canada that supports indigenous and BIPOC voices in the emerging psychedelic eco-system.

Dance, connect, and join us in celebrating psychedelics for all they have to offer.

This World Psychedelics Day event is produced by The Flying Sage and International Psychedelics Awareness Foundation. Thank you to our sponsors as well for supporting this event… including Conscious Lab, Microdays, Wize Tea and SABIA.

Shama’s quest for self-discovery and healing began in 2002, leading her from the ancient lands of India to various corners of Europe and beyond. In her extensive travels, she immersed herself in the profound depths of meditation, breath work, and Reichian therapy methods, culminating in her mastery at the Diamond Breath School in Italy. Shama has not only learned from the masters but now stands among them, sharing her wisdom across the globe.

Her insatiable thirst for knowledge and understanding of human psychology compelled her to explore and train in numerous body-mind healing modalities. It would be 1997 when Jason finally got his Technics 1200s and started playing the music he had been collecting for years. It was music he'd been exposed to in his hometown of Vancouver, and the import record stores he was attracted to. Drawing on heavy inspiration from the progressive house sounds of Sasha, John Digweed, and Dave Seaman he quickly found his music niche as a DJ . The Global Underground mixes from Ibiza, Sydney and Cape Town were the textbooks that he studied relentlessly. The fire was lit, it was on. Over the years, he perfected his craft, and the people noticed. Soon he was playing shows in the UK, Germany, America and many at home in Canada. A big moment was playing at the massive theme camps at Burning Man in 2000 where he met Paul Oakenfold and a prodigal Hernan Cattaneo. Jason has fond memories of playing at Burning Man many times after that, and numerous raves up and down the west coast of North America.

Jason's sets are characterised by a unique soundscape that transports listeners to another world. His love for progressive house and techno is evident in every track he selects, blending classic anthems with the latest underground hits to create a truly unforgettable experience. Jason has been enjoying playing virtual parties and curating his online radio residencies on www.subcode.club (UK), and MixPub Radio (UK) on a monthly basis. In 2020, Jason finished in the top 10 worldwide in the a DJ mix competition hosted by Sasha's label LAST NIGHT ON EARTH.

In 2021 he was invited by Drey Foxx to join The Rolling Ball as partner and resident DJ. The two have played numerous back to back sets together and have honed their sounds as a duo, and as individuals. They also launched Rolling Ball Productions which has seen 3 releases already with more coming soon. Last year was a busy one for Jason, as 2023 had him booked in London, California and across Canada at clubs and festivals. 2024 saw his debut at the legendary Soma Club for his 3 hour set , and will see him take the decks again soon at some local events coming up! Catch him on the dancefloor soon!

Aerion has DJed for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, Bjork, Pantera, and Deli to Dublin, to name a few. She has performed along side Mat the Alien, Self Evident, Daega Sound, Taalmala, Michael Red, Scotty Stylus, Emog, 5LINK, Beats with out Borders, Funk Hunters, Miss Kosmik, Kytami, Kasey Riot, and countless others.

Years of DJing/VJing and involvement in festivals such as Bass Coast, Shambhala, Diversity, Electric Love, Bonfire, Under the Volcano, Vibe, Hi Society, Sublunar, Intention, Solaris, etc.... and decades of underground parties have shaped and evolved Aerion’s sound into an eclectic mash up of any and all electronic genres... woven to suit the subtleties of the moment with loving care and passion.

Her early years as a DJ began in 1986 while attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Her début at Vancouver’s 'Celebrities Nightclub' brought the house down with a three hour eclectic Industrial-trance set. She continued along those lines, mixing the CRÈME DE LA CRÈME of Electronic, Industrial, Metal, Punk, Ska, World, Jazz and Classical music through out B.C. and Alberta, while at the same time producing 'Dance Jams' and a weekly 'Wakefield' series of dance parties, as well as a myriad of hot local events in the Sunshine coast of B.C.

She moved to Chile in 1995 where she DJ’d at Santiago based night clubs 'OZ' and 'Blondi' and many underground dance parties affiliated with the 'Euforia' team which is still going strong. In 1997 she moved to Quito, Ecuador to be the resident DJ at an Acid Jazz club called the 'Zoo’. Returning to Canada in 1999, she left her old sound down south and began a decade-long love affair with Drum and Bass, spinning her magic and producing events through out B.C., Alberta, Washington and Mexico. Her sound these days has evolved to include a vast range of genres, giving the dance floor what it yearns for in the moment, as her insatiable taste for fresh new sounds feeds her ever changing style.

Aerion (Marcy Solis de Ovando) has had a long and steady musical career, beginning at the age of 10 when she purchased her first shoulder strapped tape recorder. She roller-skated around recording every sound that captured her ears... everything from 70s radio, to random ambient life. She began making tape-loops by cutting and splicing and then re-recording them, layer over layer, creating her own brand of sound. 'I shot the sheriff' looped with parents love making moans, birds chirping, children's laughter, car tires screeching, train whistles in the distance, the steady rhythm of a washing machine, a cat in heat, etc... all mixed in with the vinyl tracks she playfully worked on her Mickey Mouse turn tables. She was the kid playing fresh tracks at every birthday party... and still is.
